Views of Anacapa - 01/01/2012

Here's Sunday's ride as a poem.

It’s the first Brevet of the season

This gives me reason for the New Year

It is so pleasing to be seeing

All the riders that is here

Bright eyed and bright smiles

Though they be tired from last night

They all came to put in their miles

‘Cause for a Randonneur that just seems right

Those chose not to show let me break your heart

It was an absolutely most beautiful day

‘Cept for the start the wind did its part

Pushing us along our merry way

Let’s give a yelp for the help that is great

To Roger, Lisa, and Matthew

We appreciate service that is top rate

Plus with Matt’s name makes it easy to rhyme with

The climbing is fine, just take my time

Worth it for the California postcard views

We keep in mind what’s on the control sign

Happy New Year! To all of you

There are three sickies on their fixies

Along with four riders who were bent

Every rider sure rode quickly

And got in before the sun could set

The end is splendid spending with friends

Fresh baked pizza at the Jones residence

I sit awed and enthralled to be listening

To the stories and glories in France

So let’s yell for a ride that went well

Beats being where it is cold and snow

All I can say what a wonderful way to start 2012

And to know this is how the rest of the year will go
