Subject: OC Pendleton 200Km Tomorrow!
Yes, time has flown, and the OC Pendleton 200Km is tomorrow! A few important notes:
It’s generally cold, like near freezing in Santiago Canyon in the morning. I recommend a light windbreaker jacket and full fingered gloves. It will warm up to around 60F for the afternoon though. Unfortunately, strong Santa Ana winds are forecasted in the afternoon, not so much at the coast, but definitely heading inland. Not to worry, if you have a major problem, I’ll be around to rescue riders all day.
If you have not applied for your Camp Pendleton DBIDS Recreational Bicycle Pass, then you will have to use the I-5 shoulder to ride to Oceanside for control #3. I’ve ridden this way many times and it’s actually faster than riding through Camp Pendleton, just very noisy! The bypass route is here: https://ridewithgps.com/
Because of the mess with how doing the waivers online got printed, signed (or not signed), starting with 2019 all riders will sign a one page waiver at the start. Thus you will sign the waiver, hand me the ride fee (cash or check made out to CIBC), and I hand you a brevet card.
