From the business

History

Established in 2013.

In the summer of 2013, a group of friends were hanging out, having a few beers with seafood. Unfortunately, the quality was lacking, the beers were warm, and our eyes aren't what they're used to so we couldn't see the scores. Someone jokingly said, We should open one ourselves! We'll have good food, ice cold beers and TVs big enough for us to enjoy the game. We had these drunken talks before, creating visions of what it could be but never did we tried. We all grew up in Lincoln Heights and didn't have much but we scrapped together what we had and opened our first store in West Covina in early 2014. We worked tirelessly, constantly making mistakes but we kept on learning and improving. In June 2019, we received a small business of the year award from the State of California! Today, with the help of those who believed in our vision, we have grown to 12 locations, with more in the works.

Whittier Stinkin Crawfish is home to a wide variety of seafood dishes, appetizers, and beers/cocktails. We offer happy hour (varies by location) and a lively atmosphere to combine for an amazing experience. Whether you're dining with your family, or just having a casual date night with your loved one; we pride ourselves on delivering the best service possible.

My lunch for LAW's Straight Cow Mountain.  Mel suggested this place some time ago..

Went back in archive for a write up of the ride.

I hope I never see one

But I can tell you anyhow

If Rowan and Martin were bovines, Dan would be the straight cow.

Good evening again,

Have to apologize whole heartedly, knowing the others are waiting on me.  My mistakes, should have started down early as I'm going to be the last one.  Back with my old club, had the fear of descending, as not to have the others wait for me at the bottom of a long down, learned to climb fast thus I can start my descent ahead then after they pass, they don't have to wait as long.  Mistake two, fixing my flat on the ground with a wall hiding me from view.  Unfortunately my body does not allow me to do repairs standing up.  Mistake three, should have, but couldn't contact the others to state my situation.  Recall Dale texting me when I had a flat on a ride.  As I lost that phone, my new one does not have his and Mel's number.  So I searched for an old roster, well it's old and no longer in my archive.

So thank you all for being there.

Wrote I wouldn't be riding this coming Sunday's.  Looked at my ride schedule for the next month plus worth of weekends, and it's filled.  So I should show my face.  Back when, feels like way back, I'd ride to Pine Tree Park.  I must have driven there a couple times but most have been by bike.  It is within the fifty miles.  Done every Orange County route. So I should know how to get there. As I desperately need to get into better shape, and knowing I did that, plan to be there via cycling.  Get an early predawn start, nothing new.  After the maze, probably won't be as perky, take the train back.  15 dollars, sounds like a bargain.  Well I am in training.

A few items from this past Sunday's ride.  As Karen Mason would say on more than a couple occasions to new riders, don't talk to David or he'll write about you.

Commented about Roberta Grill, that it is rare to see a place called a Grill named after a women.  So I had to do a search but again not being tech savvy, only came up with Border Grill by the two hot tamales.  Well it is guys who man the barbecue.
Then came my silly talk as I go on about the petite hamburger.
Well this night I cooked up my own burgers,  Went to Ralph's 6AM, every time have to be assisted at the self checkout as the machines conspire against me.  Went through this whole scenario with the wife who knew I was loony but really, 1984 has passed and big brother is a robot.  Mark my words, the machines are going to take over.  I see the high schooler walking like zombies with their heads down over their phones.  You won't see me putting a computer on my bike.
Back to my burger, how can I eat a hamburger at an establishment when it does not come close to my creation.  Reason went to store, had to buy their tomatoes as a burger is not a burger without it even the tasteless greenhouse grown, immaturely picked.  Looks great, but no taste.  Grilled sweet onions, romaine not head lettuce.  three slices of sharp cheddar melted.  Simple salt, ketchup and mustard and sweet relish.  Why oh why is it every time I go, the relish is gone, well the big jar, not the squeeze bottle or baby food containers.  This time there is only one jar there and I grabbed it.  My thinking is they only put out a few jars as bait.  To have us keep coming, if it's not there, we'd have to buy something else since we're there.  When my Mom was around, she 'd tell me buy three if they have it.  Ooooo, got the brioche buns, toast a slight browning, slab of butter, yeah cholesterol city, but it taste.  So why no bacon or guacamole.  It was already falling apart as is.

Anywhat, with Turnbull is the climb and back when Kermit rode with the Whittier Flyers, they had a Hill climbing time trial, they tried to get me to compete but I don't race.  Well Renee must as she was Queen of the Mountain.  She also won at the Great Western Bicycle Rally.
So someone on the ride asks what's with Renee and Kermit.  As one who's ridden with Renee many a rides, rode with on her first Century which took over 12 hours, the club being very patience waiting for us to finish, recall Bill waiting for us to get to his stop in Reseda after I tried to convince her to cut the ride short but no she wanted to do it all.  Yes I noticed Kermit being around at every ride she does, well not the century I rode that year.  She called Kermit and said I would be riding with her.
Well if you read on a previous post about the Oakridge Century, Renee is one of Kermit's angels.  He helped to train both Renee and Lisa to do long distances. And when Kermit was in the hospital, Renee was there every day.  So Kermit feels obliged to watch over her.  Yeah, every long ride I've ridden, we had lunch with Kermit, he would be following us in his vehicle,  Just making sure his angel is OK.

Can't believe the time.  Yikes, got to wrap it up.
See all in Tustin.  Was going touch on the Torture Clinic, or as Kermit exclaimed, what's this dude doing in this class.  He doesn't need it.  Some people just like pain.  Like some of you having to read this.

Happy bicycling, David
