Next Thursday, May 15, is BIKE ANYWHERE DAY organized by SANDAG. To celebrate and support this long standing local community event, SD RANDOS is organizing the 2nd Edition of Bike Anywhere Day Randonnee 2025! Like all rando events, here are the rules: - the bike must be human powered (no e-bikes or any pedal assisted contraptions) - the ride must be 5 miles or greater in distance - must visit at least 3 pit stops - if you have Instagram, please tag @sandagregion and @sd_randonneurs - if you don’t have Instagram, you’ll receive a pdf copy of the “brevet card” where you can write down the pit stops visited - when finished, your Instagram posts or brevet cards will become raffle* entries to win the following prizes: a bottle of Courtney Benham’s 2022 Exploration Series pinot noir for 2 lucky winners and a bottle of Tremens Delirium Belgian Ale for 1. image1 (1).jpeg

Good morning Wei, Had a fun day yesterday. Got in only 6 pitstops. In North County, they are not close together, In Randoneuring fashion, had each stop fill in their control on my card. What was a hit, I was wearing the 1995 Bike to Work shirt which every stop has to comment on. And for those 30 years, this is my first time participating in Bike to Work in San Diego. That original shirt was mailed to everyone who registered. Could have picked up 6 shirts as each stop offered one but took one. Then after the my last, riding back should not forget my wife. Stop and asked if I can get a second which they had plenty. And she loves the color. Bike Everywhere is a win win. See you tomorrow, David Matt, Michael and Dave, Congrats. Double Peak Park

Knew where I wanted to go, the Elijo Hills, took a map and devised a route. Using many roads never ridden as this is all new to me, learn much of the streets were in gated communities. Found out fast as my first climb up Vera Cruz did but took a side gate to enter and continue up. The next street takes me to a closed road which I go under the chain, a very nice area with people hiking, goes by a nice pond. Will have to come back to check this area out now that I know where it is, Discovery Lake. Over to the dreaded Twin Oaks Valley climb. A cloudy cool day helps. My first area with a gate. Continue into San Elijo for the descent till Double Peak Dr and the tough ascent to the park. Never been, glad I struggled there. There are paintings of the views with sights marked.
